What Taiwanese commonly call zaozi is actually the Indian jujube, revealing its origins in India. While the exact timing of its introduction to Taiwan remains unclear, cultivation records date back to the Japanese colonial period.

At the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, Taiwanese bananas appeared among the athletes' village provisions—marking the first time Made in Taiwan bananas successfully entered the Olympic arena. The Council of Agriculture even held a virtual press conference titled "Making Friends with the World Through Bananas, Cheering for Olympic Athletes," providing a much-needed boost to banana farmers across Taiwan.

When eating lychees, one often thinks of Yang Guifei, the beloved consort of Tang Emperor Xuanzong. Poet Du Fu even penned verses about them: "Racing to deliver lychees, a hundred horses perished in mountain valleys." Lychees originated in China over two millennia ago, making their way to Taiwan for cultivation only in the 18th century.
